Casa Luca

We came back to Casa Luca twice in June 2025, and both visits were great. It’s close to the beach and the main bars and restaurants, but the area was quiet enough for us to sleep well. Our rooms were clean and had what we needed, and the staff were warm and welcoming. Good value too. We’d happily stay here again when we’re in Vama Veche.

The free coffee, parking, fruit-filled garden, and kind staff were the bright spots. The room was a decent size, but noise came straight through the walls. We could hear the neighboring bathroom and late-night parties, and the nearby club ran all night. It was only about a five-minute walk to the beach, but we left early because sleeping there at the weekend was impossible, especially with children. The bathroom had no window or working ventilation, and smelled bad. The toilet drain leaked each time it was used, leaving the floor wet around it. The air conditioning switched off around 3:45 A.M., so I had to get up and restart it. We also couldn't adjust its temperature, which stayed at 25°C. We thought the rooms would have balconies. Instead there was a narrow, long passage with tables and chairs, hardly any room for your legs, people walking past, and no privacy or comfort. It was a nightmare.

The way the reception staff treated me made it feel like I was being granted a favor just for being there, and daring to bother them. The POS didn't work, and I got no receipt. I paid the price they asked, without a discount or haggling, and expected to be treated accordingly. Places like this keep getting customers because tourists arrive without expectations. This is supposedly one of the better options in Vama Veche. I wish the business would go to someone who treats guests like clients and wants them to come back.

We stayed there several nights, and the power went out every single one. That left four or five rooms in the complex without air conditioning or a refrigerator each night. There were no spare rooms, and the landlord said there was nothing he could do, though maybe he could give our money back. There wasn't another solution, and the conversation got extremely tense. Nothing suggested we could fix things without ruining the holiday. The place was somewhat quiet, and at first the landlord seemed understanding, but I definitely can't recommend Casa Luca 3, or Luca 2 or Luca 1. Don't expect a perfect holiday.
