La Livada

The room was clean, but the bathroom was in very poor shape and smelled unpleasant. There’s air conditioning, though we didn’t use it. As expected, the nearby local road made things a bit noisy.

It’s a cheap little country hotel, really only good for a quiet night’s sleep. The beds are comfortable, there’s free parking and the wifi is good. Since it’s a small motel outside the city, I can’t judge it too harshly. Still, the room isn’t even up to a 2 star hotel, there’s no elevator, and the staff were rude and impolite. Nobody was wearing a mask. There’s a sign outside the main door saying the hotel doesn’t have the Fire and safety verification and the documents required to be in working conditions.

Update. The earlier meal was much better: the "spicy pan," a mix of meats, and the "pork tenderloin with spicy onion sauce on grilled polenta" were both well cooked. This time I had a Home made beef burger with wedged potatoes, garlic and sour cream sauce, and it was a letdown. The patty was dry and chewy, all lean with no fat, and tasted strongly of burnt grease, probably from a not-so-clean gas/electric grill. The bun and lettuce were old, and the sauce was too heavy. The presentation... I’d better stop. The waiter wasn’t doing his job, either. He was outside smoking and chatting with his friends. Try something other than the burger. Maybe I just got a different waiter...

The restaurant was the highlight. My wife and I tried several dishes, and every one was incredible. The menu isn’t very large, so there isn’t much to choose from, but the portions are big and the price is really good for what they offer. I’d come back just to eat, even if I were only passing through. I recommend stopping by for the food, whether or not you stay over. I slept there for two nights in different rooms. At first I thought I’d only need one night, but my schedule meant staying another, so I chose the same place. The rooms are fine, not very big but more than enough, with clean bathrooms, TV and AC. It was warm in the room even though it was around -1 to -2°C outside. I’ll definitely be back.
