We checked out after just one night, even though we had paid for a second. Too many things had gone wrong. The restaurant felt stiff and impersonal, and the breakfast buffet was limited, low quality, and lacking variety for the high rates. Staff were cold and dismissive, especially with families with small children. When I asked for a fork, one staff member answered with their back to me. The room we booked as the best option was only mediocre and poorly kept. There was no bin except a tiny one in the bathroom, I found visible hair in the shower, and housekeeping seemed superficial. The room still had not been cleaned by late morning or early afternoon. There was no kettle for making tea or coffee either. Other basic issues included snow left uncleared outside, no ramp for strollers or luggage, and no night reception. With these prices, I can't see how this place meets four-star standards. I wouldn't recommend it to families or anyone expecting a real four-star stay.

The staff were great, and the building's architecture was lovely. We had a delicious meal, and our package included an hour of private spa time for our group. It's right in the middle of town, too.

The jacuzzi and sauna were a real treat after exploring the area. The hotel is right in the center of Vatra Dornei, and as a couple we found it a charming place to stay. Our room was spacious, comfortable, well equipped, and spotless. Staff were warm, attentive, and excellent throughout. Breakfast was tasty and generous, though more local cheeses and regional products would have been nice. As coffee lovers, we'd also rather have used the machine ourselves than ask staff for refills. The single-use slippers were a thoughtful touch, but the bathrobes could be roomier. Hotel Carol made for a warm, memorable stay, and we'd happily come back.

I've been coming here for years and have always had a good experience. I can't speak to what the hotel is like, but the way they treated me this evening and on earlier visits makes it clear they take customer service seriously. Hats off to the restaurant team. I had one of the best meals I've had in Romania. The young waitress spoke English and looked after me really well. All three courses were delicious: chicken soup, trout with polenta, then Papanasi. Their Palinca was very good too.

This visit was just for the restaurant. The food was good, and the staff were quick and friendly. I stayed at the hotel several years ago too, and it was okay.
