For a two-star place, this is the best I've seen on the Romanian Seaside. We had two kids with us, and when I moved the beds against a wall, it was just as clean underneath as everywhere else. The staff were polite, the room and bathroom were super clean, and the mattresses looked brand new and were comfy. I liked the nostalgic rocking chair on the balcony, along with its little coffee table and extra chair, plus the clothes-drying line and cable TV with cartoons. The fridge worked properly and came in handy. The bathroom had a few old bits, but everything worked, and hot water came almost right away. That's not always the case at other communist-era two-star hotels, where you have to wait and hope for a hot shower. There was AC available, though we didn't need it, and I think it costs extra. The wardrobe wobbled a little and made the hangers rattle when we opened it, but that wasn't a big deal. The small annoyances barely registered. In my opinion, this hotel redefines what a two-star stay in Romania can be, and it's the best value for money around. The bar at reception is a bit expensive, but handy for sweets, snacks, and beer. The yard has tables and a playground for kids, which were both nice surprises. The location is the one downside for me. It's farther from the sea, with no sea view. That wasn't an issue for us since we drove to another beach. I'd add more parking spaces, though, because the street can get crowded. I've stayed at other communist-era hotels that were easy on the wallet, but this one beats them by far for amenities. If it had a sea view, it would be perfect for me.

The rocking chairs on the balcony were a hit with my kids. The hotel was freshly refurbished, spotless, and the staff made us feel welcome. It's a little farther from the beach, but the walk kept us active. We had a lovely stay.

We were there for two days, which suited us, though I wouldn't choose it for a long holiday. The staff were helpful and the place was clean, with AC, a wardrobe, small fridge, and small TV, all we needed in the heat. It's about a 10-minute walk to the nearest beach, though we didn't care for the beach in Venus. Since it's a 2-star hotel, the furniture and mattresses aren't high quality, but the hotel was as described.

Hotel Sanda is well looked after, even if Venus itself feels a bit run-down, and we enjoyed staying there. It's around 500 m from the beach in Venus, but we drove to Saturn instead, so that distance didn't matter to us. The garden, with trees and flowers, was a lovely cool spot in the afternoon. There's a playground for kids, and the staff were polite, helpful, and left us alone when we wanted space. The private parking is a little hidden, so ask at the front desk. Inside, it was spotless, even in the wardrobe, and the windows shut properly with good mosquito nets. The downside was the thin walls: we heard rowdy guests, doors slamming, and beds creaking. I guess that's much the same anywhere.

The towels were changed daily, and the rooms were decent and quiet. Parking was a problem, though: the spaces are small and there aren't enough for all the rooms. I've been coming here for six years, but still can't get a second-floor room. The third floor is too hot for my kid.
