Casa Hille

We meant to stop for lunch and wound up staying for two nights. The hosts are two of the kindest people I’ve met while travelling. She cooks wonderfully, and he knows the loveliest routes and gives great directions. They’re also full of useful tips for getting around Romania. I really enjoyed being here.

Casa Hille was our starting point for walks in nearby Piatra Craiului National Park, and the view from the Bnb was splendid. The rooms were comfortable and clean, with parking on site. The food was fantastic, nearly all homemade, including milk brought fresh from nearby farms. Mihai speaks English, French, and German, and he and Radica go out of their way to make guests feel at home. We got schnapps, freshly baked cookies, hiking tips tailored to us, and even a toy for our child. Staying with them felt like visiting grandparents: lots of fun, wonderful food, and hard to leave.

Hiking is easy to plan from here, since the guesthouse is right at the entrance to the village and well placed for Piatra Craiului and nearby trails. The owners gave us good route advice. Every room has a spectacular village and mountain view, and ours was very clean and comfortable. The window had a handy mesh screen to keep insects out. Mihai and Radica are so kind and warm that it felt like staying with family. I’d choose their place again next time I visit Măgura. The food they made was delicious, with great vegetarian choices. Ingredients are local and organic, including milk from the neighbor’s cow, and homemade jam and butter.

We had everything we needed, thanks to the friendly, knowledgeable hosts. The woman of the house cooks tasty meals, mostly with local ingredients, and can adjust the menu for children. The setting is beautiful, with a lovely view and mountains to hike in. It’s a great spot for a couple or family looking to spend a few quiet, relaxing days.
