Vila Mila

The setting is a big part of the appeal. Vila Mila has places by the Danube and beside Bukovička Banja Park, with nearby wineries and restaurants offering Serbian wine and local food. The villas are in a good position for both nature and local culture. I found the rooms more like private sanctuaries than hotel rooms, with crisp linens, carefully chosen furniture, privacy, and natural light. From the outside, Vila Mila has a Mediterranean-meets-Balkan look, and inside there's a refined, comfortable feel. The same atmosphere carries through whether you're at the riverside villa in Smederevo or the boutique retreat in Aranđelovac. The hosts make the stay feel personal. The service is warm and proactive, and they make you feel like an old friend. They can suggest a local vineyard, prepare a traditional breakfast, or welcome you with a smile for a late check-in. It's also a place to slow down. Some facilities include private pools, saunas, and quiet courtyards. Nights are very quiet, and the air seems cleaner, which made it easy to put my phone away, read, and relax. Vila Mila left me with a real feeling of being cared for and unwinding, in a place that still feels untouched by mass tourism. If you want a trip that feeds your soul as well as your Instagram feed, book a stay. You may not want to leave.

We came from another country to celebrate our wedding at this villa, and it turned into a nightmare. Because we couldn't view the property beforehand, we booked the whole site based on the photos, expecting 6 full rooms and a clean pool. Instead, the pool was filthy and murky, full of leaves, with rusty pipe fragments at the bottom. It felt like a health hazard. The rooms looked nothing like the photos: they were dusty and smelled stale, as if they hadn't been aired out in months. There were broken tiles, rubbish around the garden, a broken outdoor shower, and rusted toilets in the rooms. When we arrived, we were told that booking the whole villa only included 5 rooms, and we'd have to pay extra for the sixth. After a heated argument, they gave us that room, but it was a tiny child's bedroom with no bathroom. There was another full suite on-site that should have been available to us from the start. The hostess was aggressive and unprofessional. She yelled at us and literally tried to kick us out when we complained. She also showed up unannounced every morning, walked around as if it were her home, and even looked at work laptop in the shared living area where everyone was gathered. This place is neglected and dirty, and it's managed by a very hostile person. Save your money and sanity, and stay elsewhere.

The villa backs onto a beautiful park and forest, with access through a gate at the back of the property. There are plenty of outdoor seating areas, and both the pool and spa were lovely and well kept. Our family had a lovely vacation in the spacious villa. The host was welcoming and gracious, and gave us a good breakfast every morning.

The wellness area has a jacuzzi and sauna, and there's also an outdoor pool in summer. Breakfast is simple but delicious, usually fried eggs and cold cuts. The rooms have an old-fashioned feel and beautiful paintings on the walls. The bed was comfortable, though a bit creaky, and the room refrigerator was noisy. You can unplug it if you're not using it. The service was very kind. I'd definitely recommend the place.
