The price, location, and reliable wifi earned the two stars. I paid £17, so I knew it was cheap, and maybe I just got a bad room, but I've paid similar prices in less visited European capitals and stayed somewhere better. At least in room 101, there was nothing boutique about it. The place was worn out, the bathroom had mould, and there was no hot water for the shower or any towels. I was only there for one night, so I didn't badly need a shower and didn't complain.

We got to the hostel early in the morning and someone welcomed us warmly at the door. The person who let me in was really kind and even called the owner to ask whether a room was available. The atmosphere felt comfortable, and I liked the café area a lot. I'd recommend it to other travelers and hope to come back, maybe see the friendly person who helped me again. :)

The owner cancelled my booking just an hour before I was due to arrive. With so little notice, I had to find a more expensive hotel in squalid conditions because it was the only one left. Belgrade had spontaneous riots that day, so I'm sure the owner cancelled the reservation I'd made 40 days earlier to sell the accommodation at the last minute for twice the price. Very unfair...

The hotel was clean and amazing, and the staff were really nice. I saw a woman who wasn't even staying there ask for water, and reception gave it to her for free. That left me with the impression that the people here are kind and generous. I hope they have even more success, and I hope to visit belgrade again soon.

The rooms at Madison Apartments are modern, clean, and simply designed. The staff were caring, gentle, and very nice, and there's a bar right at reception with amazing coffee, cappuccino, beer, and liquors. It's directly across from the Belgrade train station, with the airport bus stop not far away. I loved my stay and highly recommend it for a visit to Belgrade.
