Centar Guesthouse

I don't agree with the other reviews I've seen. I was there for two days, and Ivana at reception was really kind. She helped me get settled and suggested things to see nearby. The room was clean and just right, and the location is right in the heart of Belgrade, with everything close by and even a restaurant near the entrance. Nothing bad to say.

The place is clean and in a great spot, and Lana and Vecina were super friendly when they helped us. But our room had a sewage smell, and there was a bathroom problem. The light didn't work properly, even after we asked for it to be fixed, and the hair dryer didn't work either. They advertise two beds, but what we got was one awful sofa bed with a big uneven dip. When we asked them to make it up, they put a mattress on it and it was still uneven. Booking doesn't say it's a sofa bed, they call it a bed.

The staff were great and the location was good, though finding the entrance took a bit of effort. The toilet had such a horrible smell that I kept the door shut and wore a mask when I went in. I even left the room window open, with the air conditioning off, but the smell was still there.

Be careful if you're paying with a US credit card. After I booked, they kept asking me for a different card, over and over, and then cancelled the reservation only two days before my stay. My bank sent no messages, so it doesn't look like they even tried to charge the cards. I hope no fraudulent charges show up later on any of them, since they'd had access to the card details.
