Constantine the Great Hotel

Housekeeping was the big letdown during our seven nights. They changed the towels, removed the trash and brought toilet paper, but never changed the bed linen or vacuumed. The dishes and dirty glasses were left as they were, including the welcome-cookie plate from check-in. Soap and shampoo weren’t replenished, and tea bags weren’t replaced, though the cups were changed once. The room was very spacious, almost apartment-like, with a living area, workspace, hairdryer and the amenities we needed. The reception team were polite and helpful, and the restaurant had tasty food, a clean space and a nice atmosphere. If they improve housekeeping, it would feel worthy of four stars. As things stand, closer to three.

The area is fairly quiet and the prices felt reasonable. It’s a little beyond the city center, though the main sights are walkable or just a short bus ride away. Our room was in great shape and had what we needed, and breakfast offered plenty of variety.

The receptionists were nice, but the food was mediocre, and I wouldn’t stay here again. There was loud shouting from Cuban/Mexican cleaning workers in the mornings while guests were sleeping, so resting was difficult. I saw them spray a bed and put the old sheets back, and the rooms weren’t cleaned properly. The toilet seat was dirty too. I couldn’t ask the cleaners for towels or toilet paper because they didn’t speak English or Serbian, and I don’t speak Spanish. It gave me the impression that the managers didn’t care about the hotel. I’d avoid it.

The location was great, though the water pressure seemed weak and the heating was odd. Breakfast was pretty ordinary.
