Hostel Fine Belgrade

Some staff were very rude and unhelpful, and one person was even threatening. We’d booked because the advert said there was a shared kitchenette, but there wasn’t one. Staff were often absent, which made checking in and out slow and difficult. When we checked out, one staff member agreed to keep our luggage. But when we returned for it, someone else became aggressive, said we weren’t allowed to be there anymore, and threatened to call the police if we didn’t leave right away. I posted this same review on booking.com, and the owner replied with a bunch of lies, I guess to discredit my bad review. We did absolutely nothing wrong and were treated awfully.

We’d stayed at this hostel a couple of times before and everything had been fine. Then they cancelled our booking made months in advance, apparently after seeing that Beograd would have more tourists around the time of a concert or event. Quite a surprise. After the hostel responded, I should add that they did email saying I needed to pay, but the link went to my booking and had no way to pay. They ignored our emails asking how to make payment. After cancelling the booking, they told me by phone they’d sent a link to the bank. Why send it straight to a bank account instead of through booking.com? If I’d actually received a payment link, I’d have paid and wouldn’t be so furious. Now the room is 20e more. So funny.

The room was badly laid out for storage, with nowhere for basic things like toothpaste and hygiene products. The table, shelves, and closet were unstable, and the bed the owner said was new felt as hard as a rock. I asked to leave and found somewhere else. I can’t recommend this hostel, it seems worth paying a little more for better accommodation. There was constant noise despite the claim that the rooms were soundproof. The floor wasn’t clean, and the walls, once blue, were covered in ugly black marks. The corridor looked just as neglected, with dirty, broken walls and obvious water stains. A sink kept dripping, the shower hose was unruly, and the boiler took ages to heat.

The administration was polite, and it’s an easy walk to the city centre. This is a quiet spot, good for a night or two. Rooms, toilets, and showers are clean. They also handle registration. Check out is before 10.
