The location was good, close to town and Mcdonald, and the shower was good, though it didn’t drain properly. The rooms looked tidy, but there was a lot of hair and dust under the bed, so I wouldn’t want to put my bag there. Security was the main problem. We were told the front door was never locked, and there was no room key or locker available. The entrance is through the shoe shop, so anyone can walk in at any time. Reception wasn’t staffed, and when we went to check out at 10:30am, we had to leave a note. I’d recommend it if the security issues are fixed.

The staff were perfect, and it’s easy to get around from here. The hostel is on a main street with a small bus station nearby, and the river is about a 10 minute walk away. The area is just a bit noisy.

In less than four hours, we got a pretty clear picture of the poor management here. We checked in, then were told to leave our beds because they’d already been booked. The staff didn’t know how to use the credit card machine, so we couldn’t pay. After going into town, we came back to find the building door locked. The owner was supposed to be on the night shift but was out of town. Five of us were stuck outside for hours in the middle of the night. One person ended up sleeping at another hostel. We rang and called loudly enough to wake people inside, but there was no staff around. We eventually forced the door open after waiting an hour. The owner then tried to avoid responsibility, blaming the neighbors for locking the door. The morning shift staff had to deal with the fallout, including the rings and bells, and the possibility of losing her job if she didn’t handle it properly. Avoid this place for its management and the chance of being locked out.

If you’re on a tight budget, you can stay here for 2-3 days. It’s a decent hostel for students, and the staff are okay, but comfort isn’t its strong point. If you can spend a little more, go somewhere better.

The staff were great, the rooms were comfy, and all the sights are very close. My single room got too hot because it was farthest from the two a/c units, so I’d give it four stars instead of five.
