Inside, the golden mosaics, Orthodox art across the towering domes, icons, saints, and biblical scenes are incredible. You have to crane your neck to take it all in. The light and color against all that gold, and the sheer scale, are overwhelming in the best way. It’s peaceful and serious too, with people lighting candles and praying quietly, and you can feel the weight of the place. Outside, the huge white marble facade, green domes, golden crosses, arches, and fine details make the centuries of Serbian history feel close. It’s been under construction for ages, which adds to its epic feel. The church is massive and majestic, looming over Belgrade as its spiritual heart. It’s one of the biggest and most important Orthodox churches in the world. If you’re in Serbia and only visit one place, make it this one. It’s a national symbol that stays with you long after your visit.

I was most surprised by the church beneath the main cathedral. The lower level is richly decorated and stunning, more intimate in scale but impressive in its own right, like finding a hidden treasure under an already monumental building. The main space is just as overwhelming inside. Its height, volume, and intricate details make it feel both majestic and serene. Outside, the immense cathedral, with its huge dome and broad white facade, dominates the skyline and makes you feel small. Its size and proportions speak to its spiritual and cultural importance. Visiting the Church of Saint Sava in Belgrade really impressed me. Whether you’re religious or simply interested in architecture and history, it’s worth seeing and leaves a lasting impression.

Inside, the mosaics and fine details are stunning, and the peaceful but powerful atmosphere feels deeply inspiring. You can sense the history, faith, and craftsmanship all around. The Church of Saint Sava is monumental in both scale and spiritual presence, with magnificent architecture. It’s one of the most breathtaking landmarks I’ve visited, an architectural masterpiece and a symbol of cultural and spiritual heritage. A must-see in Belgrade. ★★★★★

The art inside was breathtaking. There’s a really long line, but tourists who aren’t planning to worship don’t need to wait, they can go straight in through the main doors. We first thought we had to queue and decided not to visit. Then I searched online and saw the line was for others. Hope this helps you too. I was mesmerised. Everyone visiting Belgrad should see this place.

The interior is quiet and spiritual, with beautiful, finely detailed mosaics and decorations. It’s a lovely place to sit quietly and take in the architecture and history. Outside, the open area around the Church of Saint Sava feels peaceful, and the white walls and large golden dome make it stand out. It’s a beautiful, impressive church, and one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world.
