The Belgrade Hills

Belgrade Hills has a beautiful setup for a wedding, tucked away in a forested part of Belgrade. The catering was the problem. The venue has no kitchen of its own and hires an outside caterer, yet charges a premium for food that fell well short of what we agreed on. We had heard similar complaints from other couples, so we made a point of discussing this in advance. The menu we received looked generous, but at the wedding there wasn’t enough food and the selection was smaller than promised. When we raised it the next day, the venue manager apologized and said the caterer was responsible, and that our complaint would be passed along. That same day, the catering owner contacted us to apologize. He said the hotel had told them we wanted to save money on food and had chosen a reduced menu. We never questioned the price or asked to cut back. The catering manager was polite and professional, and sounded honest and surprised by how the hotel had handled things. The wedding concept and setting are lovely, but Belgrade Hills needs much better management. If you’re planning an event there, I’d think twice or arrange your own caterer.
