The downtown location is handy, with shops and a restaurant close by. But I’d only stay here as a last resort. Check-in was self-service, and the host didn’t provide enough updates or information. The wiring and cables looked awful in both the room and hallway, the staircase was quite dirty with cigarette butts, and the bathrooms were very cold on cold days with no proper heating.

The shops and restaurants were fine, but there were lots of beggars, especially young children. They kept pestering us along the whole street that leads to the fortress.

Niš is a lovely, modern city, and the city centre is beautiful. The Nišava is only a few metres away and almost as beautiful as the Sava River. Just watch out for foreign pickpockets, mainly from Bulgaria and Albania. If you need a taxi, call SALE ( Sasa Mitic)...

We got in late at night and the host was still really friendly and helped us out. The apartment was nice and the rooms were clean. Some rooms even have a second floor :D It’s right in the city centre. Great place to stay!
