Pupin Hotel

The hotel itself is okay, and the receptionist on the first shift really tried to explain things to us. But I couldn’t believe there was no coffee shop, and the cafeteria didn’t open until 8 AM. In the normal world, it opens at 5. The hotel isn’t cheap, yet I was told I could cook for myself in my room. Breakfast is 15 euros per person, enough to eat lobster in the city for that money. The electrical setup in room 218 was another issue. You’d need a degree in electrical engineering to figure out how it works. I couldn’t.

The room was close to the center, which was good, but room 201 had no real window and felt like a prison cell. Check-in was very slow, too.

The rooms were exceptionally clean, so I gave them five stars for that. One thing to know about the view: when you get off the elevator and turn right, the rooms along that corridor all face apartment buildings, so you’ll want to keep the curtains closed. Parking needs to be reserved and costs €15 per day.

The rest of the hotel was 10/10, but avoid a third-floor room if you need sleep. The restaurant above it is on the fourth floor and stays open until midnight or later. With tiled floors and wooden chairs, you can hear them scraping and creaking all night long.
