Mantis Kivu Marina Bay Hotel

The receptionist who helped me at 1AM deserves a trophy shaped like a coffee mug. She let me get some sleep and handle things in the morning, which saved my sanity. The setup is very American-standard, with lots of automation, and my room was clean. Breakfast low key slapped. The gym equipment was okay, though the place looked like nobody ever cleaned it, probably because nobody comes in. The two big headaches were mosquitoes, which ignored every bit of technology and personal space, and the payment system. I had enough money, but getting the payment approved was slower than Rwanda immigration and made me feel like I was trying to buy the hotel and rename it after myself. Embarrassing for no reason. Some of the staff gave me a look that made me think I’d heard them talking about me. I speak a lot of languages, but maybe I misread it. I did walk in wearing a black shirt, joggers, socks, and flip flops, so perhaps they couldn’t work out how someone dressed like a retired beach uncle ended up there. All good, I travel for comfort, not a runway audition. It was still a good stay, with friendly staff, solid breakfast, and everything working except the part that matters most, taking my money without stress. Fix the payment trouble and tell the mosquitoes to chill, and it’s an easy 5 stars.

We had a weekend getaway with my girlies, and the spa and steam room were such an experience. From our room, the view of Lake Kivu and bukavu was insane. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and well maintained, and the whole staff, from waiters to receptionists to the driver, were professional, polite, and well trained. The à la carte portions were hella generous, and the breakfast buffet had a huge selection. Will definitely come back to use the tennis court 🎾.

My family had a great time here. The hotel is children-friendly, with delicious food, courteous staff, and rooms that are both clean and spacious.

We got a spacious, very clean room, and the breakfast buffet was rich and delicious. The grilled fish from the Kivu Lake was delicious too, served with different pieces of vegetables. The location on the bord of Cyangugu is nice, and the service was excellent. There’s a huge swimming pool along with basketball and football fields, and the price performance ratio is correct.
