My mother could barely walk after the chimp visit, and when we got back soaked, there was no buggy to take her to the room. We waited, then she had to make the painful walk herself. The hotel paid the handlers to take her to see the chimps, but the $200 didn't come close to making up for all the pain and stress. It started right after check-in. My mom slipped on the extremely slick floor in our room and badly hurt her ankle, along with getting deep scratches. I called reception to ask for a doctor or someone to check on her and disinfect the cuts. Someone came along and acted like a doctor, but turned out to be a housekeeper. They put a very hot towel on her ankle and gave her a really painful massage, which I'm pretty sure made it worse. A physician arrived later and was shocked that the injury had been treated with heat instead of cold. We were so shaken that we hadn't stopped the housekeeper, thinking they knew what they were doing. Then I fell too. Barefoot or in socks, the floor was like a skating rink. The manager said they advise guests to wear rubber slippers all the time, but nobody had told us that. What kind of hotel room has a floor like that? If you forget and get up at night, you could get hurt even more seriously. The grounds were nice, but our room was small compared with other hotels in Rwanda, and the service was poor despite there being only a few guests.

The wildlife right on the property and the staff made every moment special. We were next to Nyungwe national park, right at the entrance to one of the oldest forests on earth. Chimp trekking and colobus monkey trekking were both amazing. It was a beautiful, unique experience, and I hope we can return to see the property again. If you're thinking about making the trip, you won't regret it. Murakoze Cyane!

We'd happily come back. The lodge's location is unique and breathtaking, and the whole visit was unforgettable. We travel widely and have stayed in plenty of hotels at a similar price, but One&Only Nyungwe House is right at the top for service and hospitality. A heartfelt thank you to the whole team for being so kind and providing such excellent service.

Lock the balcony door, the sweet colobus monkeys are sneakier than they look! They kept us entertained from the balcony, which looked out over the forest, at the Canopy Treehouse. It felt magical, with its fireplace and luxurious bathtub. The team made our anniversary extra special with surprise celebrations. When we couldn't bring ourselves to leave, Micheline, Bob, Max, and Christian made it easy to extend our stay. We loved the activities, from hiking and tea tasting to canopy walks and even spear throwing. The Fire Ritual spa treatment was a must-try, and the heated pool surrounded by nature was pure bliss. Every meal felt Michelin-worthy, and Chef Battista and One&Only amazing Bosco made dining feel personal. We were welcomed with warm hospitality and breathtaking views from the moment we arrived. It was a dream stay at One&Only Nyungwe House, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. If you're thinking of visiting, don't hesitate.

The staff made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived, and the service was exceptional. My room was spacious and clean, with a beautiful view. Breakfast was a highlight, especially the fresh fruit and pastries, and the rest of the food was delicious too. One&only Nyungwe House was a fantastic place to stay in Rwanda. The location made it easy to explore local attractions. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting, and I can't wait to come back.
