Hotel Gorillas Kigali City Centre

The rooms left me so dissatisfied that I didn’t even take pictures. They were all standard, and at $85 each, the price seemed far too high for the quality. The online photos made the hotel look appealing, but the reality was disappointing for the price. There were some good points. The front desk young man and lady were exceptionally helpful and made sure I had what I needed. Breakfast was included, and the kitchen staff were friendly and attentive. They also helped arrange a taxi to my next hotel. The location was convenient, about 10 minutes from the Kigali Convention Centre and 15 minutes from the airport.

Breakfast was okay, with freshly made omelets, though the bread only came with sweet options. The reception staff knew about the problems in our room but were only a little helpful. Even though the hotel’s location in town is good and the price was tempting, I wouldn’t stay again. When we checked in, the room hadn’t been cleaned properly. There were remains in the toilet and the floors were still dirty, and we had to ask for towels to be brought later that day. At night, bugs crawled in the bed and on the mosquito net. The room was cleaned the next day, but those other issues remained.

The hotel is old and run down, and I didn’t feel I got value for my money. Breakfast was basic, the towels had stains, and there were cockroaches in the bathroom. There are better places nearby, including Parkinn online for the same price or Karisimbi next door for affordable, much better rooms.

It was a calm, quite clean place near the CBD. The staff were courteous and accommodating, and I had good interactions with them. Breakfast choices were limited, as were the TV channels.
