The lake and volcano views are stunning, and the restaurant served delicious breakfast and dinner at very reasonable prices. The staff are super friendly, and you get a key to your own room with a toilet and shower. The road up is rough, so you really need a high-clearance vehicle. We paid $15 per night for 2 persons and car with rooftoptent. Definitely worth the trip!

It’s a nice, quiet place, but be careful about the charges. I was asked to pay 120 $ for a room listed at booking.com for 80 $, or 69 $ with genius 3. At dinner, I asked for two chicken legs instead of half a chicken, which was no problem, and rice with one or two eggs, also no problem. The menu lists half a chicken at 15.000 Rwandan money and rice at 6.000. To my surprise, I was charged 45.000 for the meal, and nobody had told me those two small extras would more than double the price. When I complained that the extra charge was much too high, they insisted I had to pay. I paid, but want to warn other guests to be very careful.

Jimmy, the manager, and Ivan, the waiter, were friendly and attentive, and the service was very good. Ruhondo Beach resort has a simple but comfortable setup and a relaxed feel, with lovely green hills around Lake Ruhondo. It’s peaceful and refreshing, a nice place to spend time with friends or enjoy some quiet alone. I had a great time and would go back. If you want to get away from the city and relax with beautiful views, it’s worth it.

The setting is magnificent, and the place feels like it should be five-star. But the building doesn’t live up to that. It needs a lot of care, refinement, and attention to detail to match its surroundings.

We had delicious food and a great variety on the menu, and William and his team went above and beyond to make our stay special. I led a silent retreat at Ruhondo Beach Resort, and it was just right for unplugging and resting. The volcano views are breathtaking, and the sights and sounds of nature made it feel like the perfect place. I can’t wait to come back soon!
