Auris Al Fanar Villa

The children liked the pools, and after checkout the hotel kept our luggage safely until we had to leave for the airport. The staff were fantastic too, especially the porter, who was friendly and helpful. We rented two apartments for our family's last night in Saudi, and while they're passable for one night, they felt very dated, basic, and run down for the price and intended market, even the VIP unit. The floors were extremely dirty throughout, with other smaller cleanliness problems as well. Neither washing machine worked. Both showed the same beeping and flashing error pattern that indicated no water was entering. I have more than 20 years of experience installing and repairing washing machines in the UK and abroad, and have used this model before. I tried other cycles, including spin, but they would not run without water. One machine's hose tap turned fully open with no water flowing; the other tap was jammed, apparently in the off position, so I couldn't check it. We needed to wash some things but had no time to use a laundry service. We didn't want to burden the hardworking staff over a minor issue during a one night stay, though it might be worth checking the machines regularly. Most TV channels didn't work either, and some electrical fittings seemed dangerous. A bedside socket was only loosely slotted into the wooden bed surround, not screwed in, and fell out with live wires exposed. Several other sockets had no outer cover. With better cleaning, maintenance, and some modernization, this could be a very good villa hotel. Thanks for the prompt, courteous reply.

I'd stay here again if I return to Jeddah, but I'd make sure I had a car. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the staff are super helpful. Amenities are a little difficult to get to otherwise, since everything is far away. There are Masjids nearby, and the waterfront is a 15-20 minute walk. Enjoy your stay.

The rooms were dirty, and there was cockroach dust in the house to get rid of the cockroaches. There were cockroaches everywhere, too. The AC leaked, and there was no water until they changed the motor to get water. The pool had way too much chlorine, and my eyes burned for an hour.

I wouldn't recommend this place. There was cockroach powder all over the house, the room was very dirty, and the beds were very small. The pool had so much chlorine that my eyes burned for 24 hours.
