When we got there at 2 am, after booking 3 rooms for 4 days, we were told none were available. For the price, it absolutely wasn’t worth it. The place smelled awful and was very dirty, with worn, unclean furniture and carpets, bugs, and a bad bathroom. Customer service was horrible, and staff were rude, especially the Egyptian receptionist. Truly one of the worst hotels. I’d never recommend it.

The Wi-Fi was very bad, and the hotel itself needs a lot of work. Still, the staff were amazing and worked hard to make guests feel at home. My stay was excellent, and I really appreciate their commitment. Special thanks to the in-shift supervisor Mutasem, Salah and Ahmed. I’ll definitely come back.

Staff are friendly and helpful, though you only get service if you ask. Nobody will come into your room on their own. I’ve been here 13 days as of today, and the nightly rate is a little higher than at other nearby hotels. It’s a good hotel, but I’m not sure why it’s called PROTEL, since the hotel name is EWG Al-Hamra hotel.

The staff are responsible, and the rooms are cozy and clean. The surroundings are calm too.

Google Maps still lists it as Protel, even though the name has changed to Aljohra. That’s misleading everyone 😞😡
