Rivan Al Mashaer Hotel

We had a pleasant stay and would come back if we needed to. The hotel is about a two-minute walk from the main road, with shops and groceries, and staff were wonderful and helpful. The hotel provided a free shuttle to the bus junction. From there, we took the SEPTCA-local bus to Kaa'ba for 6SR per person during the busy part of Ramdaan. We were told there was also a direct bus from outside the hotel to masjid-ul-Haram for 3SR. The journey took around 10-12 minutes. By car it was under 10 minutes. You can use Uber, Carim, or taxis on the road, with fares from 9SR to 65SR depending on traffic and time of year. Uber and Carim were cheaper. We paid different fares at different times of day during Ramdaan, with less busy times costing less. Bring your own bathing soap, lotions, toilet paper, napkins, and iron, or get your clothes laundered outside, which isn't very expensive.

A very good hotel.

We stayed in room 407. The sink was leaking, and I reported it to reception three times, but nobody fixed it. There was no housekeeping when we first arrived. I needed the toilet and found poo on the toilet seat, so I cleaned it myself and reported that too, but nobody came to clean it. During the seven days we were there, they never cleaned the room or changed our bedding. A very poor hotel. The location wasn't good either. Taxi drivers kept getting lost, and we had to call reception for directions. None of the receptionists could speak English.

I recommend it. The service is good, and the hotel is very clean.
