Azard Hotel

The room itself was clean and had a king bed, a living room, an open kitchen, and a second room with three beds for the kids. The location is far from the Haram, though, and the service ruined our trip to Madina. We’d traveled from Mecca and expected to check in at 4:00, but waited over an hour with tired kids. They kept telling us it would be five more minutes, and the room wasn’t ready until 5:15. The hotel looks fancy, but the service felt like zero stars. I’m usually fair in my reviews, but I wish I could give this one zero. I’ve never had an experience like it.

We paid 225 rials for one night, from 8-Oct to 9-Oct. Parking was available in front of the hotel and in the basement, though spaces were limited. The staff were friendly and humble, and a small van for about 15 people ran to the Haram near entrance gate #303 during prayer times. It’s an 8-12 minute drive from the Haram. The room felt charming and had modern conveniences, including an iron and board, toiletries, a fridge, and a very large LED TV, maybe around 65 inches.

It’s a quiet place with facilities all around. Alharam isn’t far, and you can take the hotel bus or a taxi for about 15-20 SAR.

Just an ordinary hotel, nothing particularly special. The breakfast was only okay. There were a few choices, but the food seemed stale and overcooked. They serve regional dishes without labels, so someone unfamiliar with Middle Eastern food may not know what’s being served. Coffee was just hot water with powdered sachets, and the ingredients in them didn’t seem healthy. The made-to-order omelette station was the one good part. Our bathroom shower wouldn’t drain, so water spread across the floor and soaked the carpet. The carpet was already wet when we checked in, so this wasn’t a new problem, and I saw an older review mentioning it too. I don’t understand why it hadn’t been fixed. I reported it at reception, but the woman there couldn’t understand English, so I used Google Translate. Someone came up, tried to clear the drain temporarily, and said it was fixed. It wasn’t. I then asked for towels to make a barrier by the shower. They said they’d bring some soon, but after waiting an hour and calling again, I was told there were no towels left at the hotel and I’d have to wait for the laundry person the next morning. For a place claiming to be three or four stars, not having even one towel when I needed it was surprising.
