AWFAD Hotel

We had a private birthday dinner at Medyaf Restaurant, and the service was excellent. Sohan and Salman were especially attentive to what we asked for. The food was a hit too, from the Arabic salads, soup, and appetizers to the desserts. I especially liked the kabsa rice, grilled chicken, and mixed grilled meat. We’ll come back for another private dinner banquet.

We were promised a partial refund after problems with the air conditioning and unclean linens, but it never came. Management apologized and said they’d follow up, then stopped responding after we checked out. My emails and calls got nowhere. When we tried again, staff were hostile, and we felt foolish for believing them. It felt dishonest and disrespectful. The trouble started at check-in, where the front desk was impatient and dismissive, and the staff seemed unconcerned with guests or basic professionalism. This was the worst accommodation I’ve had in all my years of travel. I found the facilities and service unacceptable, and based on my experience, I’d urge others to avoid the hotel.

I couldn’t sleep because people chatting in the corridor could be heard clearly through the thin walls. The rooms are small, and although the hotel is clean, they seem a bit dated, especially the toilets, and could use renovation. The lighting in the room is too weak, particularly if you’re on a business trip and need to look over your work.
