Creole Breeze Self Catering Apartments

The apartment suited me well, especially its quiet spot at the side and end of the island where traffic is very light. I liked the balcony, full-size fridge, and Wi-Fi for streaming sports and entertainment. The fine-sand beach is just a short walk away, and the bay is gorgeous at sunset. Samantha, the on-site manager, was attentive and got things done. When I accidentally mixed up my leaving date, the owner was very generous with me. I really enjoyed my stay.

The self-catering place is close to some beautiful beaches, and the room has what you need to cook a good meal at home. There are also some very good takeaway restaurants nearby. We stayed five nights before heading to La Digue and Praslin, then returned for another four nights to finish our trip. The property managers made us feel welcome from the start, carried our luggage to the room, and greeted us with a smile and a good morning every day. The owner and family were lovely too. They kept our big bags while we were away on the other islands, and arranged a late checkout on our departure day. The experience really exceeded what we expected.

Sam was warm and welcoming, and helped us sort out transport from the airport as well as explain public transport for visiting local places. The accommodation was very clean, with amazing air conditioning, and we enjoyed the pool too. It’s easy to get around from here and very close to the beach. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it.

We expected a new, quiet apartment based on the description and photos, but found neither to be true. The place was poorly soundproofed, and barking from at least three dogs on the neighboring property across the street went on day and night. The photos set expectations that the apartment didn’t meet. On arrival, we were already unsure about spending our whole vacation there. We then noticed a stained bedsheet, a dried fly in the uncleaned wardrobe, hair in the washing machine, a worn sponge and cloth in the kitchen, dusty decorations, and gecko droppings on the ceiling and wall. There was also a missing wardrobe door, a leaking shower head, slow drainage in the shower and sink, a very loud air conditioner with an unpleasant smell when switched on, and a broken wall clock. Each issue might have been small by itself, but together there were too many. As other reviews mention, housekeeper Sam tried to fix them. We wish that work had been done before we arrived, especially as the information said the apartment was ready the day before. A few more kitchen utensils, such as scissors, would have helped too. Communication with Michael was difficult. On arrival day we asked to speak to him because we wanted to discuss possibly ending our stay early. We knew the cancellation policy didn’t offer refunds, but hoped for some flexibility. His response was very curt and uncompromising: no refund if we left early. The next day he offered a move to his other accommodation, with breakfast, but it had no kitchen and a lower rating, so we declined. For financial reasons, we ended up staying despite the unpleasant start. The most serious problem was the pool. After just 15 minutes in it, our swimwear turned pink. The water had looked unusually cloudy, but Sam assured us it was fine. Rather than apologizing, Michael, speaking to his employee, accused us of washing our clothes incorrectly. We found that inappropriate, both because of the accusation and because our concern about a potentially harmful health issue was dismissed. The same thing happened to another family the following day, and they received the same accusation. It turned out the pool had apparently been treated with far too much chlorine. We respect that people can see things differently, but as guests we expect respectful treatment, openness to criticism, and a willingness to take responsibility. We felt those things were missing. Management shouldn’t become defensive about every complaint or blame guests for its own shortcomings. With the pool, at least some understanding or an apology would have been appropriate. The response felt disappointing and unprofessional.
