Jessies Guest House Seychelles

The host made me feel at home throughout my stay. The place was very clean and close to the beach, and breakfast was made fresh each morning.

The way I was treated on arrival made this the most unpleasant stay of my whole trip. The woman at reception was the rudest person I met in four weeks travelling around the Indian Ocean. I said the room didn’t look like the photos, and she replied, “You can go to another hotel, I don’t care.” She left, then told me on the phone I would still have to pay if I left, and hung up while I was speaking. The following day, housekeeping damaged my phone charger. No one apologized or offered to repair or replace it. I was also charged 7% more than the price agreed through Booking, and had to pay in cash. It was hard to feel comfortable there. The room had no AC, and the service was poor, so it wasn’t worth the money.

The house is on the main road, with a bus stop right outside, and it’s about a 10-minute walk to the beach. I stayed four nights, and Jessie made me feel at home straight away. My room was very clean and had everything I needed, and breakfast was delicious. I also got to try her Creole dinner, which was amazing. If you want a homey place with a local contact, this is it!

Jessie helped us arrange a rental car, drove us to a nearby beach one day, and answered our other questions. Shops and a pharmacy are close by, and Beau Vallon beach is a 7-minute walk away. We stayed six nights and were really happy there. The rooms were clean and lovely, with daily cleaning, and Jessie made us breakfast when we got up: omelettes, toast, fruit, juice, and coffee or tea. They also had a cute dog and cat.
