Pied Dans L’eau Holiday Apartments

The apartment is roomy, has all the cooking appliances, and a large balcony with a spectacular partial ocean view. Grocery shops, a supermarket, bureau exchange, bank, hospital, pharmacy, local market, restaurants, and take-away shops are all within walking distance. It’s right on the beach, just a few seconds on foot. Bring your snorkelling gear to see the amazing underwater creatures. Beach towels and sun loungers are also provided free. The food at the restaurant was delicious, especially the Sunday creole buffet, and the prices were very reasonable for the islands. We never even used the cooker in our apartment. While we ate, I saw the staff willingly look after babies so parents could have a break. It’s a very friendly family restaurant. On our second visit to the Seychelles, Marie-Noelle, the owner of ‘Pied dans l’eau’, met us at the airport with a big smile and the warmest welcome. The staff pampered us throughout. Our room overlooking the marvellous bay was immaculate. We recommend ‘Pied dans l’eau’ to families wanting a completely relaxing holiday on one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. We booked two apartments for two adults each in the main beachside building back in March 2019 for a February 2020 stay. There were two options at different prices, the main building on the beach and an annex. On February 6, when we arrived, we were told our beachfront apartments had been given to someone else. Receptionist Nathalie said she could do nothing because the other guests' reservation had been made by “someone else.” We asked for the manager, but Nathalie said “she is not reachable,” even though she had called her just a few minutes earlier. They put us in the annex, about 400 m from the beach and next to a noisy construction site. We had a disabled person with us, and that distance took him 15-20 minutes to get to the main building for breakfast or to the beach. Management also blamed us for not telling them about the disability. Were we obliged to mention it when we had booked two apartments on the beach, in the building where breakfast is served? We were treated in a hostile and nasty way. We couldn't switch hotels because they refused to return our prepayment. After I complained on another platform, the manager replied that beachfront apartments are primarily for couples with children. So why can they be booked for two adults? During our stay a French couple was in the same type of apartment we had booked through Booking. Communication with management before arrival was terrible too. We had to wait a month for answers to our questions. Breakfast was poor and the same each day, fruit, eggs, and bread. It wasn't worth it. The restaurant was almost empty in the evenings, unlike Kafe Kreol, just a few metres away, which was full. The annex was noisy and dusty from the huge construction site a few metres away, and the workers started at 6.30 in the morning. The bathroom had an awful smell and a leak, even though the rooms were promoted as new. The windows were “locked” with a large piece of wood. There were 3-4 drug dealers in front of the hotel on the main street every evening. I've travelled all over the world for almost 30 years, and this was my first such disappointing experience. My advice is to avoid this hotel.

The annex is next to a noisy construction site, so it’s dusty and loud. There’s mould and an awful smell in the bathroom, and look at how the bedroom window is secured, with a piece of wood. Drug dealers were around both hotel buildings in the evenings. The breakfast food was low quality, and the staff were unfriendly. Before you arrive, make sure they’ll put you in the building you paid for. They’re cheating and moving people from the main building to the annex.
