We spent a lovely few summer days here with friends. The renovated barn felt both elegant and comfortable, and we had a great time cooking together, taking long walks, then sitting by the fire and chatting in the evenings. Such a peaceful, beautiful place for a holiday.

I loved sitting in the window and watching summer rain fall over all that greenery. The forest setting is beautiful and so quiet, with plenty of local flora and fauna. The owners are happy to share helpful tips about the area, and the old stone barn combines a cosy feel with all the modern conveniences.

The reunion with my friends was exactly the special getaway we wanted. Vilhelm gave us such a warm welcome, and the barn's conversion from a cow barn is astonishing. Its simple design sits beautifully among the dense Swedish forest, while inside there are comfortable bedrooms, wet-room style bathrooms, a log-burner and a fabulously equipped kitchen, along with every modern convenience. We had a fantastic week at Gåvetorps gård, a real place to get away from it all.

We stayed in the cottage in the woods in summer 2023 and had a nice time. The hosts were very friendly. It’s a lovely setting if you’re after nature, or want a stop on the way between Stockholm and the south of Sweden.
