Laxguidens Fiskecamping

You can spend the day simply walking around and taking in the lovely natural surroundings at Älvkarleby camp. Families and anyone keen on the outdoors should find it a relaxing place to stay. There are hiking paths nearby with great views of the forest and waterfalls, and fishing rods are available to rent if you want to try for salmon, sea trout, pike, or other fish. The campsite itself is the main draw.

We mainly came to look around and explore the area, and my family had a good time. The accommodation was as we'd expected. Maybe next time we'll come back for a fishing trip.

The grounds are lovely, and the restaurant there is fantastic with very good prices. I’ve stayed in the riverside fishing cabins a number of times over the summers, though they’re due for some care. Apart from the new TVs, things are old and need replacing: nails stick out of the wooden bunks, and the mattresses need changing. Salmon fishing has been poor over the last few years, mostly because water works have closed off the water during shortages. The restaurant changed owners in January 2019, so I’m not sure how it is now.

It’s been ages since I was there, but my friend and I had a good time as I remember it. We even landed one fish. I wanted to share the photos.
