Hedenstugan

We spent four days here and felt looked after from the start. When we mentioned we eat vegan, Stef drove to the store and came back with food for us, with thoughtful attention to the details. His travel experience also meant helpful advice for local outings. We took a day trip to Kungsberget for skiing, about an hour’s drive, and did a short hike in -6 weather. Halfway along was a shelter and fireplace, where we spent four hours enjoying the scenery, making a big fire, and eating vegan sausages. We even spotted a wolf paw print in the snow, huge compared with the biggest dogs we know, which was thrilling. Stef and his lovely family are wonderful hosts. As fellow Dutch people we hit it off easily, though other guests seemed to have the same experience. The rooms are great. It was -18 outside and our room stayed warm despite the old building still having single-pane windows. Triple glazing was being installed as I wrote this, so comfort should improve further. The building is old but beautiful. Don’t just stay a night, spend a holiday with Stef. It’s well worth it.

The owner greeted us warmly and shared advice that we followed the next day on our trip. The room was spacious, with twin beds and a large shower room, and the whole place was spotlessly clean. The old house has been fully renovated and is nicely decorated, so it felt easy to settle in.

Stef had chosen good quality cheese and cold cuts for the simple continental breakfast, and we slept well. The check-in was easy even though he wasn’t home. Both our room and the shared area were spotless. One of the tidiest B&Bs I’ve stayed in, with thoughtful decor. We enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend it.

Our room was roomy and the beds were very comfortable. We were there for one night with our dog, and host Stef was so friendly and accommodating. We’d happily stay again.
