Scandic Plaza Borås

The location worked well for events in central Borås, and the bed was comfortable, with a nice choice of pillows. But the armchair in my room was filthy, and a metal clamp in the carpet cut the underside of my foot. Breakfast was somewhat disappointing too. The hot dishes were lukewarm at best.

The staff were kind, and breakfast was decent, with a corner set aside for allergies and vegans. The hotel is part of a chain and shares a building with the university, but there was a disturbing ladder in the room. It's a 15-minute walk from the railway station.

The WiFi connection was poor, and the hotel felt a bit too pricey for what it offered. Still, the rooms were clean, the service was good, and it's a very nice hotel. Cleaning service doesn't come unless you book it.

The rooms were incredibly hot when we stayed in May. There was a fan, but it didn't help much. The only Scandic we've stayed at that charged full price for the room and then extra for breakfast. Noise was a major problem too. The rooms are poorly insulated, and screaming and running upstairs kept us awake. When I called the front desk to ask for help getting some peace and quiet, they were rude and dismissive, and clearly did nothing. Borås is definitely a hard no for future trips.
