Halltorps Gästgiveri

Everything felt fine: the rooms, the atmosphere, and the breakfast. For now, though, fine is about the limit. It’s a regular hotel that seems to be working toward something more luxurious than it is today. I hope to come back in a year or two and be wowed by a hotel that has fully embraced the needs and standards of a five-star gem in the Öland community. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The building is beautiful, with a lovely view, and I appreciated how accessible it was. But that wasn’t enough to earn two stars from me. I found flies all over the food, the milk was lumpy and seemed expired, and the food seemed old. The elevator also appeared to be overdue for inspection by more than a year, with its TÜV certification expired. Maybe things have changed since then, but this was my experience, so I can only give it one star. Worst hotel ever, and the pictures speak for themselves.

We were due to arrive after 9 pm and tried all day to arrange a late check-in by phone and email. Nobody answered, and we never got a reply to the email either. With no response from the hotel staff, we had to book somewhere else. The customer service was very poor, and I can’t recommend it.

We sent the pizza back because it was very dry and had hardly any toppings, and the menu hadn’t said there would be no sauce. Then we waited half an hour for a replacement and nothing arrived. The food didn’t meet expectations, so sadly I can’t recommend the place.
