Hotel Drei Jahreszeiten

Dinner was an unexpected highlight. We couldn’t find anywhere around the island that appealed to us, so we ate at the hotel. Three courses for under five hundred, and the food was incredible. I usually add salt to everything, even my own cooking, but not this time. The meat was cooked perfectly, the vegetables were cooked through without going mushy, and the flavours worked so well together. Drinks were no trouble, including alcohol-free options, and the personal service was quick. I’d recommend this hotel with all my heart, and I’ll definitely come back. The grounds were such a treat, too. There’s a wonderful pool, a sauna, boules, badminton, footballs and sun loungers. It’s quiet and peaceful, and the guests we passed were polite. I loved being able to go straight outside through a door instead of finding my way through corridors. My dear mother and I are restless souls who often take spontaneous road trips, much to my husband’s annoyance. We get in the car and drive wherever we feel like, and this time we’d never been to Öland before. We quickly googled hotels there. Most seemed like standard rooms with bland breakfasts, no view unless you paid a lot, and then Hotel drei jahreszeiten popped up. I checked what was available and had a good feeling about it, so we booked. It wasn’t the cheapest, but it wasn’t that expensive either. I did worry about my choice when we turned onto a relatively narrow road, but then we arrived. It’s one of the top three hotels I’ve ever stayed in, with everything I actually want. We usually feel quite happy to leave places after a road trip, but this time I left happy.
