Scandic Borlänge

The room was very good, and it's a nice hotel. The pool and sauna were a lot of fun, though the water was a bit cold and the 30-minute slots felt too short.

The reception service was good, and the woman there was welcoming and helpful when we celebrated our friend's birthday. But the beds squeaked whenever we turned over, so I couldn't sleep. The pool changing rooms also need more cleaning.

You know what to expect from a standard Scandic, and this one is neither particularly good nor especially bad. Breakfast has plenty of choice, check-in is quick and efficient, and there are lots of staff who know the area well. There are quite a few younger people and kids, so it feels like a family hotel. Nothing wrong with that, but couples looking for a romantic stay should look elsewhere.

The room was unbearably hot, and there was no air conditioning. When I raised it with reception, the response was dismissive, as though it didn't matter. I was extremely uncomfortable and barely slept. The room also hadn't been cleaned properly. It was messy, and it looked like a thorough clean hadn't happened in quite a while. That made an already disappointing stay worse. I know not every hotel is luxurious, but basic things like cleanliness and air conditioning should be there. Management seemed not to care about guests' comfort or well-being. They need to deal with these problems and make real improvements to the facilities and service. I'd strongly suggest considering other places before booking. The poor cleaning and lack of AC are among the problems you could run into, so save yourself the frustration and look for accommodation that cares about guest satisfaction.
