Saxå Bruk

The atmosphere is really nice, and the food is estupendamente!

We had a very high standard three-course dinner in the restaurant towards evening. The dishes were incredibly well prepared and paired perfectly with good wines. Service struck a nice balance of knowledge and friendliness. The rooms where we slept later have an old-time charm, and the fact that many members of royalty have stayed in them adds a little extra for anyone who enjoys that. Saxå Bruk has a real sense of history, with carefully renovated buildings that retain their past charm. Saxå GK is next door, with a beautifully situated golf course by Lake Saxen.

The restaurant food was delicious, and the dining room in the decorated old mill building was interesting. Service was pleasant, though it seemed a little inexperienced and not especially attentive. Keeping the kitchen open gave the room a cafeteria feel, which was a shame in such a special setting, but it didn’t take away from an entirely positive stay. We loved our tastefully decorated two-room apartment in the mill’s wings, with antique furniture and a beautiful lake view. The bed was comfortable, and the bedroom stayed quiet and cool. The old mill buildings are preserved and fascinating to explore, and Saxå bruk sits beautifully by a small lake. The nearby golf course didn’t bother us as non-golfers.
