Hotell Alderholmen

You enter the hotel with a code, and use another code to access the room key. There’s no staff on site in the evening. The place is near the canal running through Gävle, in pleasant surroundings, and the staff are friendly. The rooms were quite OK and had private bathrooms. Breakfast was limited but nice, with what you wanted. I can recommend it for a visit.

The location is great, about two minutes from the train station, and the staff are lovely. I liked the communal space and self-serve breakfast, and the rooms are clean and nice. Even at this price you get your own bathroom and shower, unlike other much more expensive hotels where I’ve had to share toilets. You can arrive anytime, since the key is in a little box with a code lock. I’ve stayed in both the regular single room and the apartment above the rest of the hotel. It’s a small place with only a few rooms, so don’t expect a huge hotel lobby or breakfast setup. The service and everything included for the price make this the best hotel value I’ve had.

A nice place to sleep, well located near centrum. I was in room nr. 1 and heard the hotel’s front door slam loudly, so I’m taking off one star.

The staff and owner were helpful, and it’s in an excellent location whether you arrive by car, bus, or train. Just make sure you have the access codes before you check in.
