The owner, Hans Rädler, promised a refund, but after a second call it was clear they weren’t going to pay voluntarily. He said he was at a fair and couldn’t talk, but that his staff were handling it. I hadn’t expected a refund at first. An apology, another cleaning, and an offer of pizza and a few beers at the bar while we waited would have been enough. Instead, they escalated things and didn’t follow through on the solution we’d agreed to. I’d stay as far away from this shady business as possible. At least I got a € 50.- refund from booking.com, so some justice was served. This was a two-night stay in July 2025. When we checked in, the house boat was filthy, as the attached pictures showed. I told a staff member and the manager called me back. I listed the dirty spots: fecal matter in the toilet bowl, white (semen?) stains on the couch, dirty pillows, and dusty appliances. The manager replied, “Sorry, but there are bigger things that can happen on a house boat.” Sure, sinking and drowning would be worse, but it was the most unprofessional answer I’ve ever heard. I got agitated and spoke more sharply, saying cleanliness is paramount in hospitality. He said, “Calm down mister High Horse [sic], sorry that us peasants haven't made up the room to your satisfaction.” I ended the call and asked to speak to his boss.

We booked through Booking for one night, but the location was awful, in an industrial area that felt very unsafe. After we started cooking, the apartment lost both power and water. The host blamed us and told us to leave if we didn’t like it. It was nighttime during a snowstorm. Later, they denied it all so we wouldn’t get a refund. Horrible!

You can sit on the roof and enjoy the weather, which was a fun part of the stay. The boats are small, but have what you need. Getting into the city takes a 20-30 minute walk.

The rooftop garden was the best part of staying on a house boat. It had beanbags and comfy chairs, and there was a nice patio for sitting outside to eat and look over the water. The children enjoyed the hot tub one afternoon. We rented city bikes through an app and reached town in about 20 minutes for a very reasonable price. The location was okay, though we had to ride up a bridge each time, which gave us all a bit of exercise. The house didn’t have enough working facilities. We could only use one electrical item at a time before the system short-circuited and had to be reset. The dishwasher caused the same issue, so we stopped using it. Staff were friendly enough but didn’t fix the problem. Because of the facilities, I’m not sure we’d stay again. It might suit people who plan to eat out most of the time.
