Scandic Backadal

I can't comment on the rooms since I've only attended daytime conferences here. The food is excellent, and the staff are wonderful and service minded. We keep seeing the same welcoming faces when we come for meetings. Breakfast is really good, and the afternoon sweets spread is massive and delicious. The conference room air conditioning has improved since my first visit a couple of years ago, so now it's comfortable to carry on with longer meetings in the bigger rooms.

The facilities were great, including the pool, gym, table tennis, spa, and children's playroom. Parking was also easy and efficient, and the breakfast buffet had an amazing range of food. My room was clean and nicely decorated, but the pillows were very flat. I could hear other guests in the hallway, and the front desk didn't answer any of my three calls. Fortunately, the noise eventually stopped.

It was my first visit, and I found the experience underwhelming. The manager was friendly, but the other reception and restaurant guest relations staff need training to handle international guests professionally. We were turned away for breakfast, and once their mistake was sorted out, nobody apologized. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place.

The pool was clean and pleasant, and breakfast had a very good selection. The rooms, though, were basic and had no air conditioning, which made the heat uncomfortable. I also expected to be able to make coffee in the room at this price. Scandic Backadal feels dated and in need of renovation, so the stay was just okay for the cost.
