Grännagården Hotell & Restaurang

Lina did her best to help with whatever we needed, and she was so humble that we felt very comfortable. She and her husband were both helpful. We liked the location and the view from the roof top. The rooms were pretty good, too, with good options for both breakfast and dinner. There’s free parking as well.

The owner is wonderful and goes out of her way to make guests comfortable. We had a pretty good corner room, large and very clean, but the bed was too hard for me and the pillow too thin. Dinner was disappointing. The Toast Skagen used sourcream instead of mayo, making it too acidic, and dried dill from a spice jar rather than fresh dill, which really changed the flavor. One side of the schnitzel was completely black and burnt. It came with an odd pairing of red wine reduction and an aioli packed with garlic, also made with sourcream instead of mayo. Breakfast was OK, though nowhere near great. I understand this is a small, low-fare hotel with only 10 rooms, so a large buffet might not be viable. Still, little changes could help: bakery bread instead of supermarket pre-sliced industrial bread, real juice instead of cheap german concentrate, and serving it in glass pitchers instead of leaving cartons on the counter. I could stay again and eat elsewhere, but that hard bed puts me off.

It’s a cozy place, though the food wasn’t very good. The pasta and pizza were only okay, and the Toast Skagen and garlic bread had no taste. The tzatziki was good, at least. The staff seemed as if someone had died and wouldn’t speak English, even though more than half our group didn’t speak Swedish. It just feels like a place aimed at tourists.

This is a nice, small family-run hotel with cozy rooms and good food. The kids especially appreciated the freshly made pancakes at breakfast, a lovely extra :)
