The location made it easy to get to restaurants and bars, with plenty of sightseeing nearby. Halmstad itself is friendly and fun, with lots to do, see, eat and shop. We’ll definitely be back to the Scandic. We were there for one weekend night to celebrate my partner’s 40th birthday, and the staff were so kind and helpful. I emailed ahead to ask if they could do anything special, and got a reply instantly. They went above and beyond: my fiancé received a room upgrade, and there was a card with snacks waiting in the room as a surprise. The room was great, with a large, comfy bed and a pretty river view from the balcony. Breakfast was good, with plenty of options and fresh food constantly topped up.

The location was great, and breakfast was very good. The hotel felt a little run down, though the standard was okay, and our room and bathroom were clean. Our room was in a separate building, so we had to go outside to reach it. The bartender admitted she didn’t know how to mix drinks, which surprised us.

The location is great, but this felt more like a hostel than a hotel and was showing its age. We’d booked a room for three, but the pull-out couch wasn’t made up, so we had to do it ourselves. That’s no big deal, though it was the only hotel out of the roughly ten we stayed in on our Swedish road trip where we had to do that. Breakfast was best early, since food ran out quickly and wasn’t replenished efficiently, if at all. Parking was very limited. There was nothing available for us, so we had to park a couple of 100m’s away across the busy main road. For about 100sek more, I would much rather have stayed somewhere better. This was the worst value for money of our vacation.

A wandering cat can always find a home, and this one was a great one. Wordsmiths are sparing in their trade. It would have earned top marks in many languages, except that the chess set and wall clocks were missing. It takes someone literally spitting blood for science to truly appreciate this place.

For business trips, this is the best gym in town. The breakfast, gym and relaxation are great, and the hotel gym has everything you need for a good workout 👍
