Palace Hotell has a long, close connection to Hultsfred's history, and the new management clearly values that welcoming, guest-friendly feel. The owners made our stay personal, which we really appreciated. The restaurant menu is fairly small, but the dishes were delicious, with local and seasonal ingredients, generous portions, and a bit of Italian-Swedish fusion. At first, the luxurious but homely decor made me wonder whether it might all be a facade, with cracked walls or dusty corners hiding behind it. That wasn't the case. The owners and staff pay close attention throughout, from the comfortable, luxurious bed linen and sweets on the pillows to the delicate soaps, toiletries, design cushions, and other details in the spacious, comfortable rooms. We're grateful we got to stay at Palace Hotell while travelling through Sweden.

From the moment we walked in, the welcome made us feel at home. The place has fantastic service and a kind of magic to it. I wish we could have stayed longer.

We came for dinner as two families with young children. The welcome was pretty unfriendly, and we were even told the children should sit still because “this isn't any mcdonalds”. They weren't misbehaving, just going to look at the water pond right beside our table. There were tables available, but no one would move them together for us. After waiting a long time without service, we left for a restaurant that seemed more welcoming. The service felt very arrogant. If you have children, I'd avoid this place.

They put a lot of care into this place. The service and breakfast were lovely, and we felt welcome and well looked after. The hotel seemed a bit dark to me, and some of the panels looked worn, but I was really happy with our stay. I'd come back if I were visiting Astrid Lindgrens verden.

The staff were very sympathetic, and breakfast was very good. Our room was big, clean, and lovely, and there was a nice garden too. There's a lake with lots of ducks near the hotel. Astrid Lindgren Park is about a 20-minute drive away. I can highly recommend this hotel.
