Scandic Kalmar Väst

The rooms were quite warm, but there was already a fan in the room to use. Breakfast was great, and the staff were amazing and friendly. The location worked well for us, close to a bus stop and away from downtown.

The free parking lot is large, there was a fan and a water-heating kettle in the room, and the staff were friendly. The pool was nice, though the sauna was broken. Still, this was a very bad stay. The hotel is old and seems poorly maintained. The hallway carpets by the rooms were filthy and smelly, as if they might never have been cleaned, and the room and toilet both felt very old. The breakfast area was small and the food just ok. There was no TV in the room, and they didn’t give the kids coupons for free drinks, something I usually see at Scandic hotels. I stay at Scandic every other month around Sweden and abroad, and I’ve never had such a bad experience at another one. They shouldn’t charge so much for quality this poor. Very disappointing, sorry to say.

There’s a large free parking lot, plus Tesla Superchargers right next door, which is handy for EV drivers. The hotel is a bit outside Kalmar, with rooms and service that are perfectly fine. The views weren’t much fun, and breakfast was on the small side, though it still had everything you’d expect from a buffet.

This place is run down, and there’s a moldy smell throughout. The rooms are ok, but old and dated. I forgot my toothbrush and had to pay 86SEK for a replacement. Everything here is overpriced. If you’re in the area, stay somewhere else.
