Tivedens Hostel-Vandrarhem

There’s a wall-sized map of Europe in one of the bedrooms, showing major rivers and land borders that no longer exist. If you’re into history and geography, try dating the map for a fun challenge 😀. The former school is clean and comfortable, and the owner is kind, friendly and helpful, with good hiking tips for the area. You can take the canoe on the nearby lake for free, and rent a sauna cottage by the water. That was a really nice experience.

We had full days out hiking in the nature reserve, then came back to the hostel in the evenings to refresh and repack. It’s charming and excellent. It’s technically a hostel, but we called it our “hotel”. Honestly, I’d almost rather keep this gem secret than tell the world about it.

We had a wonderful time. There’s a small breakfast of coffee or tea and Marmelade toasts, and you can use the hostel’s own canoe for free. It’s a place for an old building full of charm, the friendliest and most helpful host, and a cool swinging rope in the dining room. If you’re after new bathrooms and stylish Interieur, though, it won’t be for you.

The owner was really helpful, and the kitchen has everything you need. It’s clean and well kept throughout, with comfortable beds and lovely shared spaces. The hostel is close to the lake too. I’d recommend it without hesitation.
