We picked this place for three nights in late October, hoping for northern lights and a taste of Swedish wilderness. The location worked perfectly as a base for the lake and mountain areas. We rented a car, and having a free parking lot just across the road was very convenient. Our corner room on the 7th floor felt almost like a small flat, with a separate lounge and sleeping area. It had a big bathroom with a bath/shower and a wet room. A couple of shelves for toiletries would've helped, but the room was cozy, the bed was comfortable, and there were wintry views over treetops as far as you could see, even from the bathroom. The lobby downstairs was lovely, with huge windows letting in crisp Nordic light, comfy sofas, and fluffy blankets. Most evenings there was a roaring fire to sit by. The top-floor bar had a similar cozy feel, with plenty of seats and blankets, plus 180-degree panoramic views. Breakfast cost extra and offered a generous range of nourishing choices, from continental items to English breakfast options. We liked the soft and hard boiled eggs, the three or more kinds of natural yogurt, and all the nuts, seeds, and dried fruit for topping. The coffee and hot chocolate were really nice too. We would've preferred breakfast to run an hour longer, at least on weekdays, but once we adjusted to the hours it was fine. We loved our stay and would happily come back to Kiruna and do it again.

We were lucky enough to see the aurora from our room, and the hotel's location also made things easy, with shops nearby and the airport very close. Every area of the hotel felt stylish, clean, and comfortable. The rooms in particular were nicely designed. The front desk staff were welcoming, and the chef and service team took time to tell us about the golden beets. All the dishes were fresh and delicious. We left very satisfied with the thoughtful service.

The staff at the hotel and restaurant were easily the friendliest and most helpful people I met on my travels in Sweden. We ate at Momma’s Kok & Bar beside the lobby, ordered smash burgers, and were very happy with them. I can't remember our server's name, but she was the absolute best and we had a great conversation. There's also a rooftop bar with tasty cocktails, a cozy, quiet atmosphere, and an outstanding view. We only ended up booking at Scandic Kiruna because our train out of Kiruna was canceled. Apparently that happens often, so leave extra time for travel problems. Getting a room was easy and relatively affordable. The rooms were modern and clean, and the lobby was inviting, a great spot to unwind with friends.

A note about Agoda: we booked a prepaid, non-cancellable rate with an instant discount, but after submitting the booking our card was charged at the regular price, 601.03 kr more than the offer. Agoda refused to honor the lower rate. The stay itself was great. Our clean room had a very comfortable bed, a safe, and a slim cooler for bottled or canned drinks. The shower pressure was excellent in our second-floor room. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and Bee made breakfast especially welcoming. We also had the best soft-boiled eggs of all the hotel breakfasts on our Sweden holiday. Highly recommend the hotel.

I went to the sauna twice, and after long days out in the cold it was just perfect. The room had a lovely view over kiruna and a spacious bathroom, while the breakfast was really good and had a peaceful atmosphere. The lobby was beautiful, and the reception area was well appointed. A fantastic stay that made the rest of my time here even better.
