Kastanjegården på Stenshuvud

The kids had a great time with the play areas and trampoline, and our boys especially loved the hosts' dog and cat. We stayed one night as a family, and Maria and her family were incredibly welcoming and kind. She was always there to answer questions. There's a lovely big pool that we had to ourselves. You can use the provided bed linen or bring your own. Breakfast comes in a basket to the apartment door, with homemade rolls from her husband and homemade apple juice. We'd definitely come back!

The hosts were friendly, accommodating, and easy to reach, and the surroundings were nice with good outdoor play for the children. The pool was great, though charging 150 SEK a day for it felt stingy, like being charged for tap water at a good lunch place. It would be better to include it. The water was too cold for smaller children. But the apartment smelled very damp. There was black mold in both the soft and hard joints in the toilet, which is completely unacceptable in a rental. Washing and airing our clothes didn't get rid of the smell, even from things we hadn't unpacked. Luckily we aren't allergic, or we'd have had to leave. We told the hosts, but they seemed unaware, which was very strange. We rented a room for a long weekend in October 2020, two adults and three children.

We had a great week at Kastanjegården in Österlen in summer 2022. The large heated pool was the best part for us, and our son and we could swim every day in warm, pleasant water. The accommodation was also really high quality and close to the places we wanted to visit, including Kivik and its beautiful apple orchards. One of the best family places to stay in Österlen if you're travelling with children.

The only downside is how far it is from restaurants and similar places, though you know that going in. Otherwise, it's a fantastic, cosy place, with a big garden full of things for children to do and a lovely pool house for swimming.
