The restaurant was a real highlight for me. The food was fabulous, breakfast was excellent with plenty of variety, and the manager and staff were kind and helpful. The parking was useful too, and the drive in was beautiful. I’d come expecting a peaceful place after a long trip, drawn by the lovely view, the nature and the little marina. The hotel is spread across several buildings. Some rooms seem better kept, while others have nicer views, but the walls felt thin everywhere. I could hear noise from rooms and shared spaces. During my stay, a group of young women were celebrating a bachelor party on my floor. They were drunk, playing music and making so much noise the walls seemed to shake. After a 14-hour trip, I couldn’t sleep at all. Staff said they’d already asked the group to quiet down and offered me a room in another building. I had to pack up and move at 11 pm, which was annoying and spoiled what might otherwise have been a good stay. The staff were helpful in sorting it out, but it would have been better to keep other guests in a separate building when an event like that is happening. I’m also not sure this place is suitable for people with disabilities, so check before going. The rooms were clean and OK, though they could be better for a hotel of this rank.

The storm made things feel chaotic, with power outages and limited services around the property. We know the hurricane was outside the hotel’s control, but after eating at the restaurant, we’d hoped for some goodwill or compensation. We ordered a starter, a shrimp sandwich for the main course and cheesecake, and nothing was offered. There weren’t any other dining options, and the stay had already been underwhelming. The view is genuinely stunning and would be enough to make me consider coming back. Our room looked partly renovated, but the finishes felt cheap for the price. The shower sent water all over the bathroom, so we had to spend time mopping up afterward. There was a small kitchen, though no utensils or equipment to make it useful.

We stayed in June, when the hotel was quiet, with few guests and hardly any boaters around. Our bright, mid-sized corner room, number 111, had a generous patio. The beds were comfortable, especially the soft linen, and from the room it took less than three minutes to reach the seaside sauna and even less to get to the restaurant. The bathroom was fairly spacious, though there wasn’t enough shelf space for toiletries. The tiny glass shelf leaned so much it was barely useful. The breakfast buffet had lots of tasty choices, and the coffee was strong and freshly made. One evening we had seafood soup and a shrimp sandwich, both delicious, though the prices were stratospheric. The young team at Björholmens Marina were all genuinely sweet, friendly and helpful. What makes Björholmen and the surrounding area stand out is the nature. The old fishing village sits among little bays, islets and smooth, rounded cliffs. This part of Sweden’s western archipelago is breathtakingly beautiful and worth visiting on its own. Even with a rather large hotel and sprawling boat harbor, Björholmens Marina was surprisingly peaceful. Highly recommendable!

The marina is quiet and sits beside a lovely bay. The place feels modern and nice, and the rooms are quite plain, just how a Nordic traveler might like them. Breakfast was good but simple. They put supermarket juice and milk cartons straight on the buffet. We’d hoped for a little more attention to the details.

There’s a little beach that was perfect for our 11-month-old girl, and we also enjoyed the sauna. The pizza was delicious, though a bit overpriced for its size. We loved the place and would have stayed longer, but it was fully booked. For the price, the cleanliness could be better. There was garbage left by the previous occupant, and the side table was stained and sticky. We did get a discount for that. The room was very bright, but it needs repairs: one corner of the closet was chipped and the wall needs repainting. The staff were very young and seemed a little inexperienced, but they were friendly. We hope they can improve the cleanliness in future. Then it would be five stars.
