There’s no internet from the host, and mobile coverage is only average. The TV antenna gets just two local channels, the stove’s largest burner doesn’t work, and the refrigerator fan is broken so it doesn’t cool things evenly. The place is remote and quiet, and the old house has charm, but it needs a much better clean between guests. Some sheets smelled rancid, like spoiled sour cream and onion chips, and there were cobwebs and dead bugs throughout. The washer had old detergent and dried fabric softener stuck in it, and its water supply was turned off. It looked as though someone, maybe the owner, had run it without water. I had to clean the dispenser before I could try using it. It could do in a pinch, but I’d look at other options first.

There isn’t much of a view, and the place doesn’t seem suited to anyone who cares about upkeep, even if you’re not demanding. The upstairs rooms have no closets, hangers, mirrors, or bins, and there’s no bathroom bin or hand towels, just shower towels. Kitchen smells travel easily upstairs. The old house may have its own charm, but don’t expect too much, especially when it hasn’t been cleaned properly, as it hadn’t when I arrived. Maybe fine for one night.
Getting to the motorway, airport, and supermarkets is easy. The house itself is lovely and quaint, with greenery all around, though the bathroom is tiny and there isn’t a proper terrace.
We’d happily rent this cottage again. It’s cozy and quiet, but still close to things, and there’s plenty of room for several people. The stairs up were a little steep.
I didn’t stay there myself, but someone I know said it was okay 👍
