Salsåker Herrgård

The location is very nice, but the place has clearly passed its glory days. I was excited to stay in the picturesque cottage, then found a run-down house with paint crumbling off the walls, like a haunted mansion. It was dirty throughout, and the bathroom and shower were covered in rust. The photos were nothing like the reality. Breakfast was barely there: one slice of cheese, a small yoghurt, a boiled egg and a little juice. We had to make coffee ourselves from instant packets. The owners were rude and unfriendly. Absolutely horrible, avoid it.

We had a good breakfast spread, and the old manor house is lovely, set above the sea in a beautiful spot. The rooms are spacious and bright. In summer, blackout curtains would help, since our daughter woke at 5am.

The water and scenery all around are really lovely, though quite a few things could be better.

The grounds are incredibly beautiful, with water all around, several docks and balconies, and space for plenty of guests. You can swim from two sides. The room in the annex was nice, with fresh bedding, but the headboard seemed close to coming loose and the in-room toilet felt dated. Inside, the shared areas were badly run down, with old-fashioned, loose furniture, accessories and a TV just left everywhere. A bit of paint on the buildings, oiling the tires, and fixing the slamming doors would have made the stay much better. The contrast with the stunning setting was hard to miss. B&B at Salsåker Herrgård sounds cozy, and it really is magically beautiful outside.
