Smögens Hafvsbad

The place has a stunning location and loads of potential, but it feels like something is missing. We stayed in the annex, where the rooms seemed dated, almost like a 1990s summer colony. The spa was basic and disappointing, though the staff member there was very friendly. The hotel flip-flops were so uncomfortable they left bloody marks on both my feet and my wife's. I can only assume other guests had the same problem. That's unacceptable, and they should be replaced right away. The restaurant needs attention too. At first we were seated in the busy middle section, with staff constantly rushing past, so it was impossible to enjoy the meal. We were moved later, which helped, but that table should be removed altogether. I think the hotel needs a professional operator and a major upgrade. The potential is huge, and I feel sorry for the staff, who clearly want to do good work and take pride in it. The problems seem to come from management or the owner or owners. A few employees gave me the impression they'd partly given up, which was sad to see. This could be a gem, but a lot needs to improve for it to reach the standard its location deserves.

I went just for the spa, which cost 345kr. It was clean and I had a good rest, though I'm not sure it was worth the price. The place was quite small, with one indoor pool, a jacuzzi, a small outdoor warm tub, three types of hot sauna, and some interesting showers.

We had a great stay for two nights in July. Our room was in the annex, roughly 100 meters from the main building. The restaurant has a beautiful view, and we enjoyed the tasty tapas menu. The children's menu was great too. Breakfast had plenty of options, from fruit to grilled vegetables. Our child loved the spa. There are three pools: a large indoor swimming pool, an indoor jacuzzi, and an outdoor jacuzzi overlooking the sea. They also have different kinds of showers and several saunas. The woman working in the spa was very kind.

Horrible standard. Our mini-suite in the main building had dated, IKEA-style furniture and the lowest standard you can imagine. They didn't clean the room at all during our two-night stay. I presume the place survives because it's pretty much the only hotel in Smögen. Avoid it if you can! 🤗 Luckily, the village of Smögen is beautiful.
