Åkerblads Gästgiveri Hotell Spa

We only came for dinner, so I can't speak to the beautiful hotel itself. Jolene and the rest of the staff made the evening special, with outstanding service, food, views, and atmosphere. My wife, who stopped eating meat years ago, said it was the best vegetarian food she'd had in a long time. There was also plenty to choose from for an omnivore like me. We had a really lovely time. Recommend!

The rooms were good and the spa was beautiful, and the setting is charming, with a marvelous lake view. We were pleased as soon as we arrived. Breakfast was all right, but dinner was a huge disappointment. Most of the three dishes we ordered were bland, undercooked, and boring, almost like cafeteria food. One dish was all right, but the others were just bad. We expected a nice meal and wouldn't even call the food mediocre. We'll need to go down to Rattvik for other meals.

Most of the stay was great, and the village is beautiful. Some staff were lovely, but others were a disaster at service. The worst moment was when I asked politely for a dry robe for the spa because mine was wet. A young woman with long brown hair, who had otherwise only approached my husband and never even looked at me, gave me a firm no and nothing more. There was an open room behind her full of folded dry robes. I found the whole thing disturbing. I was cold and wet and felt unwelcome, and I would gladly have paid extra for a dry robe. That wasn't what I expected from a romantic midsummer stay. There were other examples of the shocking service, and reading other reviews, it seems to be a big problem here. Everything else was more than great.

The hotel has a lot of history, and our room was lovely, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. We stayed for two nights in October and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were super friendly, the spa was beautiful, and relaxing in the outdoor hot pool in the cold air made for fabulous evenings. We'll be back.
